Mostly positive, some minor hiccups

I bought some frozen food and bulk beverages from CI Food for a catering event. The pricing was reasonable, especially with the bulk discount they offered. The delivery arrived on time, which was crucial for my schedule, and the frozen items were still perfectly frozen. My only small gripe was that one of the beverage cases had a slightly torn outer box, but the contents inside were fine. Customer service was responsive when I inquired about delivery tracking. Overall, a good experience, just a tiny improvement needed on packaging robustness.

Solid experience, good products

I ordered a mix of dry goods, some dairy products, and a few baking supplies for my kitchen. The ordering process on their website was pretty simple, even for a first-timer. Delivery took about four business days to reach my location in southern California, which was within their estimated window. Everything arrived well-packaged and in good condition. I had a quick question about an invoice, and their support team responded to my email within a few hours. The quality of the ingredients, especially the baking supplies, was up to par with what I usually get from other distributors. Overall, a solid and reliable experience.

Good value for my money

I was looking for bulk cooking oils and CI Food had competitive wholesale pricing. I got a decent discount for my order volume. The process was straightforward, and I felt I got good value for my money. I'll definitely check them again for future needs.

Pretty good, no real complaints

So I needed a bunch of commercial pantry staples for my cafe, and decided to try CI Food. The website was easy enough to navigate, which was a relief. Placed my order and it showed up a few days later, exactly when they said it would. Everything was there, nothing broken or anything. It was just a smooth process, you know? Like, what you expect, but sometimes don't get. I'd use them again for sure.

are there any benefits for new customers, or just the standard wholesale pricing right away?

D David F. 1 month ago
Sometimes they offer a small introductory discount or special pricing on your first few orders when you open an account. It's worth asking your sales rep about it.

Yeah, I think I got a slightly better rate on some dry goods when I first signed up. Nothing huge, but a nice little perk. Definitely mention you're a new customer.

do these guys do like, actual promo codes? or is it just automatic discounts when you order a ton of stuff?

K Kyle Taylor 1 month ago
No promo codes really. It's all based on how much you order or if you have a certain account level. The more you buy, the cheaper it gets.

They're a wholesale place, so it's volume discounts. Don't expect to find a 'WELCOME10' coupon floating around.

what's the deal with returns? say I get a bad batch of something, is it a pain to send back?

K Kevin Garcia 3 weeks ago
Returns were pretty straightforward for me. Had some dairy that went south, they picked it up with the next delivery and credited my account, no fuss.

Yeah, they're generally good about it. Just make sure you report it pretty quickly, usually within a day or two of delivery, otherwise it gets trickier.

just opened a new small cafe, is there a minimum order amount for delivery with CI Food? trying to budget out initial supplies.

J Josh Sanchez 2 days ago
There definitely is a minimum. I think it varies a bit by location, but for my spot in Jersey it was like $250-300 or something. You'll have to ask when you set up your account.

Yep, there's a minimum. It's pretty standard for these types of distributors. They're not doing small individual orders.

thinking about switching from Sysco to CI Food for my restaurant. how do they stack up on produce quality and delivery reliability in the NYC area?

N Nancy Moore 1 week ago
I've used both. CI Food's produce is pretty solid, usually fresher than Sysco in my experience. Delivery times are usually on point too, but might depend on your specific area.

Yeah, CI Food definitely holds its own. Their customer service is a bit more responsive than Sysco, in my opinion. Worth checking out, especially for specialty items.
